Product Description

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) celebrated the 30th anniversary of British Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR) and the 20th anniversary of the NHS Cord Blood Bank with an event in London.

The event, held at the prestigious Royal Society, was attended by clinicians, donors and transplant recipients who have received transplants over the past three decades and was a celebration of the selfless generosity of donors past and present.

Speakers at the event included:
Professor Paul Veys from Great Ormond Street Hospital, who spoke about the positive impact of unrelated donor registries on transplant outcomes.
Nigel Griffiths, a recipient who spoke about his experience and his thanks to donors everywhere.
Tony Blood, a donor, who spoke of the positive impact his experience had not just on his recipient Carl, but also on his own family.
Guy Parkes, Head of Stem Cell Donation and Transplantation at NHSBT, who spoke of the history of BBMR and the cord bank and thanked donors past and present for the 3,650 stem cell provisions that BBMR had facilitated over those years.
